Girdwood Tram Trail
Sunday, August 27, 2006
There is a very nice hike in Girdwood through temperate rain
forests and across a small gorge via a hand tram. Turn left on Crow
Creek Road, pass Double Musky, and keep an eye for parking on the
left for Hand Tram Trail. If you come to a road on your left, then
you just passed the parking about 200 yards behind. The trail is
well marked with directions at each fork. Can be completed in about
1.5 hours.

ATV Trips - Hatcher's Pass
Tuesday, July 25, 2006
In addition to guiding rafting...I recently had the opportunity to
begin guiding ATV trips. This past weekend was my first...
The trips are located in Hatcher Pass; if you have Google Earth you can view the location by downloading this file. The trips give you a pretty good overview of Alaska: alpine tundra, river valleys, swamps and spruce bogs.
Trips are an all-day adventure. I have posted some pics here.

Alyeska Ski Resort

Alyeska
is located
in Girdwood, AK about 30 miles south of Anchorage. If you

Alyeska...
Just got back from my first ski trip to Alyeska...actually was my first time skiing on a mountain. Kind of intimidating since I just learned to ski last year and haven't been skiing since then. But I survived and actually started to enjoy myself by the end of the day. Seemed as though the mountain had more Black and Double-Black diamonds runs than anything else. Even the "easy" runs were more than I would have preferred.
Alyeska is the only ski resort in the US with ocean views. I am not great skier so I don't have any worthy comments on the skiing...other than I had fun. It's a fun place to visit in the summer as well. The Tram to the top will provide great views of Turnagain arm and the mountians all around.
